Photography project at Fort Snelling in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The US-Dakota War of 1862 that took place at Fort Snelling remains the largest mass execution of U.S. History. These harms go unacknowledged and unaddressed daily by Minnesotans. To bring awareness to the subject I took photographs inspired directly from historic Civil War film. To keep the collection true to the technologies of that time period I cropped and converted the images to a warm black and white. The subtle hints in the photographs indicate a violent past without depicting actual war scenes.
